My decision to study abroad stems from a long-held desire—dating back to high school—to improve my English proficiency and become someone who can succeed on the global stage. I used to struggle with learning English; however, a high school teacher showed me how interesting the language could be and helped me discover a study method that suited me, allowing me to find joy in the learning process. I also began to want to use English to interact with people from various countries.
Since I was unable to study abroad during high school due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I became even more determined to take on the major challenge of studying abroad during my university years.
My goal is not merely to improve my English skills, but to use the language as a tool to deepen my learning and foster connections with others. I believe that studying the tourism industry—my current major—in a foreign country will lead to new discoveries and insights. Furthermore, I look forward to group discussions where I can exchange opinions with students from diverse backgrounds and gain a better understanding of differing values.
Rather than simply going abroad to study the language, I want to use English to take on new challenges and foster personal growth. Although I am not naturally adept at expressing my opinions to others, I intend to make a conscious effort to share Japanese culture and actively voice my thoughts while I am abroad.
